Birthday at the museum

Want an extraordinary birthday? We’ll make it unforgettable!

In our foyer, the birthday boy or girl can be celebrated with a meal of their choice (see options below). Afterwards, one of our hosts will take everyone up to the popular interactive exhibition ‘Working at the Docks’. Its theme is fjord traffic between towns and villages. With stage sets and dress-up cloths, you can do role-play and imagine what life was like here in the late 1950s: work as a sailor or on the docks, sell your wares from a market stall or be a shop assistant in the general store. Talk on the phone in the packing house, send a postcard to your uncle in America, and make sure the milk bucket and animal fodder are loaded onto the boat!

We set the table in our café, and two museum hosts will be with you throughout the event.

After everyone is tired and satisfied, we’ll return to the foyer where you can, if you wish, enjoy birthday cake (bring your own).

The birthday celebrant will receive a gift from Stavanger Maritime Museum.

If you have special requests, please call us so we can do our best to accommodate you.

When you make reservations for the birthday party, you will be sent free invitations in the mail.

You must bring your own birthday cake.

Due to the nature of our facilities, birthday parties can only be held outside normal opening hours. In this way, you have the whole museum to yourselves. The basic price for the scheme is therefore 1,000 NOK, in addition to a fee per child:

  • You bring food and drinks: 150 NOK per child

  • We serve hotdogs and juice: 200 NOK per child (we calculate 2 hotdogs and 1 juice box per child)
