Exhibition
Over the Ocean to America in 1825
RESTAURATION
The exhibition shows illustrations from the book "Over the Ocean to America in 1825" and a large model of Restauration. It is part of the celebration of Crossings200, the national emigration anniversary in 2025.
200 years ago, 52 children, youth and adults left Stavanger in a small sailing ship named Restauration to sail all the way to America. The trip aboard the crowded ship took three months.
The book and illustrations tell the stories of nine-year-old Nils and the younger Marta Helene, from the time they set out from Vågen until they arrived in New York, and on to the place where they would live.
